I was very pleased to honor Central Scholarship (CS), a group that provides scholarships for post-secondary education, for their important work last night. Chander Sharma; Mike Ward, immediate past chair of CS’s board; Jan Wagner, president of CS; Michele Johnson, vice president of CS; Senator Bobby Zirkin; and Democratic Delegate nominee Shelly Hettleman. On Tuesday September 16, the Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition announced its 2014 “Consumer Champions.”
I am honored to be one of the delegates and senators of the Maryland General Assembly recognized for my work advocating for consumers.
Here’s a recent interview I did with Comcast as part of their “Maryland Newsmakers” series.
I enjoyed making remarks at the Maryland Clean Energy Center luncheon on Tuesday. Congratulations to the Center on all of its accomplishments!
I was honored to receive a Legislative Leadership award today at the Maryland Clean Energy Summit, hosted by the Maryland Clean Energy Center. The following is from MCEC’s website:
“Baltimore County Delegate Dana Stein has been a consistent and dedicated advocate for policy to address climate change, drive adoption of renewable energy and encourage energy efficiency measures. A few years ago, Stein was the point person leading the charge within the legislature to create the Maryland Clean Energy Center. He has actively supported MCEC ever since. As a member of the Environmental Matters Committee, he has championed legislation to encourage development of community energy projects, improve the Renewable Portfolio Standard with a specific carve-out for solar power, and provide a renewable energy credit for woody-biomass-to-energy solutions. He has supported policy to advance consumer use of electric vehicles and efforts to pass the Maryland Offshore Wind Act of 2013. Outside of his work in Annapolis, Stein serves as executive director of Civic Works, a nonprofit that supports residential energy efficiency improvements, trains individuals for green economy careers, and maintains an urban farm.”
I am very pleased to announce that Senator Bobby Zirkin, Delegate Dan Morhaim and I are teaming up for the 2014 election. The attached press release announces the formation of the District 11 Team. I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail
I was very honored to present a General Assembly citation to Frank Bressler in honor of his being named a Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor, France’s highest award. Frank received this award in recognition of his courageous and dedicated service in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Last night I was pleased and honored to present several promising students from Pikesville High School with their H. Allan Lipsitz Memorial Scholarships. The scholarship is named in memory of a teacher of mine whose wife, Gail Lipsitz, helped me present the recipients with their scholarships.
Here is a recent interview I did for Comcast as part of their Maryland “Newsmakers” series. It touches on issues such as financial literacy, community solar projects, and school safety.
