Join Us for PowerHour 2026!

Energy costs continue to be a concern for Maryland families in 2026. While electricity
prices vary by utility and household, the Maryland Public Service Commission reports
that the average residential electricity price in Maryland reached 22.2 cents per kilowatt-
hour, up 17% from the prior year.

That is why Senator Brooks and I are excited to once again co-sponsor the 4th Annual
PowerHour 2026, an opportunity for constituents to get practical information about their
energy costs and connect directly with people who can help.

Over the past three years, we have welcomed many constituents to PowerHour and
shared information on everything from understanding your energy bill and identifying
ways to lower monthly costs, to learning about energy efficiency, solar and other clean-
energy options. Just as importantly, attendees have had the opportunity to meet directly
with representatives from state agencies and nonprofit organizations who can help
answer questions and connect residents with available programs and resources.

This year’s event will bring together organizations including the Maryland Public Service
Commission, Office of People’s Counsel, Office of Home Energy Programs, Sierra Club,
BGE, Maryland Clean Energy Center, and Maryland Department of the Environment.
Residents can learn about energy assistance, consumer protections, and other
resources that may help reduce energy costs.

PowerHour 2026 will take place on Thursday, August 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at
the Randallstown Community Center, 3505 Resource Drive.

Join us for an evening of useful information, direct access to experts and resources,
refreshments, activities for young children, and a chance to win energy-efficient prizes.
We hope to see you there!
